View RecordsFind the correct Wood County court in Ohio or Texas, distinguish court information from jail records, and request the underlying criminal document when needed.
This guide covers Wood County, Ohio and Wood County, Texas as non-exhaustive examples. Keep the state, court name and case number together. A search result from the wrong Wood County remains the wrong record even when the person’s name matches. A court file, a jail booking and a statewide history report answer different questions.
Gather the person’s full name and known former names, an approximate filing or arrest year, and any citation or case number. Compare available identifiers before assigning a result to someone. Where a portal supplies only a docket entry, use it to identify the document to request, not as a substitute for the signed judgment.
Wood County Common Pleas General Division handles felony criminal cases. The prosecutor identifies Bowling Green, Perrysburg and Fostoria as the county’s municipal courts. Start with the court printed on the papers and use its own search route. The Common Pleas Court’s Court Records page directs users to the Wood County Clerk of Courts website.
A municipal preliminary hearing can precede a Common Pleas felony case. The prosecutor explains that bindover finds enough evidence to transfer the matter; it does not find the person guilty. Keep both case references and locate the later judgment, dismissal or sentencing entry before describing the outcome. A hearing date alone does not resolve a charge.
The Ohio Clerk’s public-records request form allows inspection, pickup, mailing or email. Inspection in the office is free; photocopies are $0.10 per page, and certification costs $1 per certification. The form says certified copies must be mailed. For mailed copies, include a self-addressed stamped envelope and a check for the charges.
Email a completed request to [email protected] or use fax 419-354-9241. Describe the case and exact filing, and distinguish a regular copy from a certified one. The form says a written request is not mandatory and requesters may decline to identify themselves or state their intended use. Delivery nevertheless needs a destination.
The Texas District Clerk’s Records Inquiry link opens a service containing cases, court calendars, jail records and other categories. Select court case information for a criminal judgment. The current copy-request form says cases filed since 2016 are on the Judicial Records Search website; ask the clerk about an older file instead of treating a missing online result as proof that no case exists.
Use the District Clerk’s Records Request Form with the cause number, party name, document title, filing date, quantity and copy type. It permits a marked case-summary printout to identify requested documents. Send the request to [email protected]; questions go to 903-763-2361. Postal requests go to P.O. Box 1707, Quitman, TX 75783.
Plain paper copies cost $1 per page. Certification adds $5 per certification. Plain electronic documents of 1–10 pages cost $1 each; documents of 11 or more pages cost $0.10 per page. The form asks you to authorize a maximum amount and says an advance total will not be supplied. Avoid duplicate submissions, which are not reimbursed.
Allow up to 10 business days. Plain electronic copies may be emailed or faxed; certified copies use USPS First Class mail unless you provide prepaid alternative shipping. Copies will not be mailed to a third party. Sealed material is withheld unless law permits release. Card payments carry 2.25%, with a $1 minimum transaction fee; ask the clerk for a secure payment method.
Read the charge and outcome separately. An indictment alleges an offense, a jail entry concerns custody, and a judgment records court action. Ohio’s prosecutor provides a separate inmate-information route, reinforcing that release status does not tell you whether the prosecution ended. Neither state’s local court lookup is a nationwide criminal-history report.
If the case summary conflicts with a document, give the clerk the case number and the precise entry that appears wrong, and request the relevant filed order. If your recipient requires a certified disposition, obtain that document from the correct court. The cited offices do not publish one universal turnaround or fee for every Wood County court; the Ohio and Texas district-copy charges above cannot be transferred to a different clerk.
